Ignore this book if you want to keep lying to yourself

This books is not for everyone, but those who will read it will love it. I think the book deeply resonates with those of us who were born in the 80s or 90s and discovered the pickup community in our teens. The book contains many lessons that many of us learned over the years (or maybe have not learned yet, and thus can learn from Davids mistakes instead of making our own).
Everyone who ever had any doubts while working on his personal development or improving his dating life will be forced to look at these doubts again and deeply reflect on their validity.
David shows a great talent of communicating valuable life lessons in hilariously stories in interesting locations all over the world.
A great coming-of-age story that not only the young can learn from.

A Very Unique View on the Pick-Up Community

In this book David shares how and why his teenage years revolved about one thing: becoming a guy who is good with girls.
Why was this his goal? He started out as a shy and introverted boy. When his peers started dating girls, he felt left out. Searching for help he came across the pick-up community and became part of it. The next years were filled with self-help books, videos and seminars on the quest to become a man and become good with girls.
Lucky for him, he matured along the way and despite his immersion in the community, he became were critical of it. Lucky for us, he guides us through his journey and provides a very different view on the pick-up community.
When I read the Rite of Passage, I saw myself in David. I had similar experiences and reading about his experiences helped me understand my own better. And most important of all, this is an entertaining book with stories of the hilarious adventures he had in countries like Germany, Sweden, Japan, the U.S. and Australia.

Intriguing personal insights into the self-development craze of "Pick-Up"

Being both a personal friend of David and a fellow survivor of the self-help craze that is called "Pick Up", I greatly enjoyed seeing how David descended into this community to come out scathed, but bettered. I could relate to his feelings of inner emptiness, of lack of purpose and self-esteem and his challenges along his way to accept himself.
His well-worded style of writing and openness about his personal feelings and thoughts made it an enjoyable read throughout and I would recommend it to anyone interested in personal development, traveling and the general wonders of life.
