This includes clients with complex trauma wounds, such as those inflicted by verbal, physical, and sexual abuse; and clients with attachment wounds, such as those inflicted by parental rejection, neglect, and enmeshment. The DNMS is based on the assumption that the degree to which developmental needs were not adequately met is the degree to which a client is stuck in childhood. It starts by guiding clients to establish three internal Resources: a Nurturing Adult Self, a Protective Adult Self, and a Spiritual Core Self. Together these Resources gently help wounded child ego states get unstuck from the past by meeting their unmet developmental needs, helping them process through painful emotions, and by establishing an emotional bond. Alternating bilateral stimulation (made popular by EMDR) is applied at key points in the process. The DNMS focuses special attention on healing maladaptive introjects (ego states that mimic abusive, neglectful, or dysfunctional caregivers). Since these wounded ego states cause the most trouble for clients, their healing results in a significant benefit. As introjects heal, clients report unwanted behaviors, beliefs, and emotions diminish. This book provides DNMS background material, including a discussion of ego state theory and the practical application of ego state therapy. It outlines detailed protocol steps for establishing Resources, selecting maladaptive introjects for processing, and meeting developmental needs. The final chapter is devoted to handling processing complications and blocks. The appendix provides practice worksheets and forms and many other supportive materials. (Drawings in the book are in grayscale, not color.)

OUTSTANDING TREATMENT PROGRAM

During the 78 years of my life I have devoted 52 years to the practice of psychotherapy. Down through these years I've had the wonderful personal experience of knowing and being trained by Carl Rogers, Eric Berne, Fritz Pearls, John and Helen Watkins, Mary and Bob Goulding, and Milton Erickson, to name a few. I'm highly impressed with the way this book incorporates the evolution of ego state theory and trance work into the practice of psychotherapy in such a simplistic way that the average layperson can understand and benefit from this treatment approach. I'm simply overwhelmed by Schmidt's skill in integrating these theories of giants into an outstanding treatment program.

Also available from the DNMS INSTITUTE (additional cost) are seven CD slide show modules for home study by therapists wanting to learn more about the DNMS treatment approach for treating childhood trauma wounding. These CDs are excellent training tools for learning more about ego state psychotherapy and are essential for neophytes as well as experienced therapists wanting to learn more about treating complex maladaptive introjects. Schmidt and other DNMS trained therapist's dedication to providing on-line (email) clinical support for CD owners are to be commended for their efforts.

As a DNSM patient, I would say that DNSM ...

As a DNSM patient, I would say that DNSM is not a therapy technique a layman could understand, much less use on their own. In therapy with a DNMS therapist, every thing in the session is scripted and the therapist must find and read the script verbatim for each twist and turn as the session progresses.
This therapy is highly effective but I can not, in any way, imagine being able to use any of the concepts or techniques gleaned from a book or even experienced as a patient, on myself. I really think that would be an impossible feat. DNMS is really a therapy method to be used by a DNMS trained therapist.
I have a depth of knowledge and experience in psychology (not a therapist) but I find what takes place in each session never really touches this body of knowledge. This therapy is a whole new way of getting to the heart of the issues of missed early developmental steps, the emotional injury they have caused and healing them as the therapist taps into an ego state, works through it's very convoluted "story" and goes on to the next one, and the next and the next.
Even with all my knowledge, what happens in sessions is a huge mystery to me. Trying to understand the concepts of the maladaptive interject and the other "little ones" that show up is very difficult and slippery. To me, the concepts it's based in, in reality, are very difficult to grasp. The simplistic cartoon explanations seem quite straight forward but when you get into the work, they represent very deep, unexpected or difficult key ideas or states of mind.
So if you're looking for a self-help book with techniques that you can use on yourself, DNMS is not one of them. If you're undergoing DNMS therapy...the book may make some sense to you. It's not the fault of the author, it's the very unique nature of this revolutionary therapy. The book tries to explain in simple terms a therapy that is uniquely different from all other therapies that have come before it.

About the Author

Nancy Phillips, along with her husband Michael, runs Heartsong Farm Healing Herbs in New Hampshire, where they grow and sell healing herbs and herbal products. Nancy leads workshops on herbal medicine and offers wellness consultations. See their web site at www.herbsandapples.com.

Michael Phillips is a farmer, writer, carpenter, orchard consultant, and speaker who lives with his wife, Nancy, and daughter, Grace, on Heartsong Farm in northern New Hampshire, where they grow apples and a variety of medicinal herbs. Amazing Book

Much more than just a how-to herbal, the Herbalist's Way is a true classic! Extremely informative, traces the roots of herbal medicine all the way up to practicing herbal medicine in today's society confronting some of the most important issues herbalists face today, standardization, certification, & FDA regulations to name a few. Very well written, straight forward, easy to follow step by step instructions on preparing home medicine, including wonderful tried & true tested recipes. It not only covers a wide array of herbs but includes in depth information on how to grow, harvest, dry, store & use the plants. This book captures the spirit of the centuries old art of the healing tradition that is herbal medicine and gets to the heart of what practicing herbalism is all about. One of the first books I reach for.

Inspiring and AWESOME!!

I cannot give enough praise to this work. The Phillips writing style is a delight and the information, invaluable. I disagree with the below review that disliked the "magazine" format...I loved it! It added so much interest and human element to the book. I thought the bio's of some of the more prominent (and not so prominent) herbalists were incredibly inspiring.

The authors treat their subject matter with tender loving care. When one reads this volume you feel as though you are having a chat with a good friend. Michael and Nancy are humble but authoritative in their presentation of community herbalism.

No aspiring herbalist should be without this book! It is a must have for anyone who wants to serve their community (or family)in any capacity as an herbalist.

This book presents so much information that is relevant to not only the herbalist, but anyone who is interested in herbs in general.

The only thing I regret about this book is that I didn't read it 10 years sooner!!!

From 1968-88 he was at the Sloan School of Management, MIT, where he was Erwin Schell Professor of Management and served as Deputy Dean from 1981-87. He was a Visiting Research Associate at the Marketing Science Institute and a Ford Foundation Visiting Professor at the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management, Brussels.

Excellent at Providing the Basics ...

This book provides marketing information to non marketing professionals. It outlines the basic process of marketing from understanding buyer behaviors all the way through managing existing customers. It is fairly well written, nicely organized and a very quick read.

I recomend this book to anyone who may be considering a marketing career to better understand the role of marketers, any non marketing professional and first year marketing students.

The book, What is Marketing, is from some Harvard Business school professors, they provided techniques to understand marketing and learn how to use the skills to handle marketing easier. The book was originally designed for MBA students to analyze the opportunities in the market and use the opportunities to design and implement their own marketing strategy.
The word marketing usually means how much a company value to their customers and how can the marketers increase the company’s value during their marketing strategy making process. A good marketer needs to be familiar with all the information about their customers, competitors and partners, and have a basic understanding of Customers’ behavior analysis, Business to Business marketing, four Ps – Product, Promotion, Price and Place, Marketing segmentation, target market and product positioning, product and service designing, repositioning and product line extension, advertising and media, clients’ extension and elimination, and the basic math of marketing strategy. Those knowledge in the book is going to help the readers to learn how to be a good marketer.
I think the book explained everything the readers need in a very specific way, the explanations are in details and from surface to innate characteristics of what kind of techniques should people use and why should people use those techniques. For example, in page 25, the book explained about Channels. It talks about that channel is a mechanism or network to flow the products or service from producers to customers, from demand generation to physical delivery of the goods, is a connection between the company and the clients. As long as customers needed, channel sales person have to do whatever they can to fulfill the requirement. A marketing specialist Kasturi Rangan from Harvard Business school identified eight general functions of channel, in order to fulfill most of the requirements from client. Those are Product information, customization, product quality assurance, purchasing amount or power, product line’s width and length, availability, Service, and logistics and streams. He also explains why can’t people just cancel one level in one of the channels – you cannot just cancel the responsibility even if you cross out the level. And he also explained the advantages and disadvantages of direct distribution and indirect distribution. Therefore he suggests building a customer-driven system in order to make sure no matter what happens, marketers can still manage and maintain the functions of the channels.
The book What is Marketing explains trade and competition in the aspect of marketing, provided valuable background information. They shared the experience they got from the past and that information can be really useful for a long time. The market keeps changing all the time, what we can do is learn the lessons from the past and improve the market bit by bit.

The best study of interorganizational collaboration.

As the author points out, collaboration is an emerging and eminently positive method for addressing problems that impact more than one group. In today's ever-increasingly complex world, alternatives to current forms of problem solving are necessary (although collaboration is certainly not new). Gray's study has been cited by other, following authors; it must be considered as a seminal source of investigation into what may emerge as one of the best means of solving problems facing organizations of all sorts. The book is very readable, indicates a thorough knowledge of the field (even though it was written a decade ago), and must be considered a vital work in the field.
