About the Author

Stephen Midlock has held an array of administrative positions in diverse school districts for the last two decades. These varied experiences have given him a rich background from which the case studies of this book have grown. �He presently is a tenure-track assistant professor in the College of Education at the University of St. Francis, in Joliet, Illinois. ��

Bought it for a class

I bought the text as required reading for an administrative course. I found the various scenarios interesting and thought provoking. My professor would have us read the scenarios and respond with what our reactions would be if placed in the theoretical situation of the administrators. What was most valuable to me was the various reactions and ensuing discussions among classmates with differing opinions. The text sets out to make you think about the entire gamut of responsibilities principals have to face and react to each day, and it hits it's intended target.

About the Author
Richard Johnson-Sheehan is a Professor of Rhetoric and Composition at Purdue University. At Purdue, he directed the Introductory Composition program, and he mentored new teachers of composition for many years. He teaches a variety of courses in composition, professional writing, and writing program administration, as well as classical rhetoric and the rhetoric of science. He has published widely in these areas. His prior books on writing include Technical Communication Today, now in its fifth edition, and Writing Proposals, now in its second edition. Professor Johnson-Sheehan was awarded 2008 Fellow of the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing and has been an officer in the Council for Writing Program Administrators.

A book for stupid people, like you and me!

I was so lost in my job before this book. This book taught me some really useful things that I had never thought about, such as considering my audience and creating deadlines. Before I read this book, I would sometimes write content from the perspective of a lonely Civil war general, but this book told me that wasn't a good idea. I would also work on projects indefinitely, with no end date. I never understood why clients were so mad, but now I get it! For only 133$, this was a steal! Normally, I would spend my time eating things I found on the ground and trying to figure out how to perform basic daily tasks, like dressing myself. This book was the distraction I needed. So many useful facts!

Pretty good book

I'm a senior biomedical engineering major from Texas A&M, and I thought I didn't need to take technical writing. But after the course, a good teacher, and reading through a lot of this book, I realized I have much to learn. I almost don't want to sell this book back simply because it would prove to be a great resource for the future, but I need the money. The book is lacking a good project proposal section, as my teacher also said. Other than that, lots of examples (real world examples too) and a good book overall. Covers digital media as well.

Info may be good but the font is between 8 and 9....very very small. I find it interesting that a book on technical writing that emphasizes readability would be produced in such small print. Guess I have to buy the Kindle version to get to an acceptable 10 point font or more..! Stupid.

This book is phenomenal. Richard Rives has done an exemplary job piecing history together for readers, so they can understand how paganism spoken of in the Bible is relevant today. Many people read words in the Bible like "idols" and picture artifacts that do not associate with today. For this reason, they gloss over the passages without understanding the admonition it has for them. This book will help readers to understand how the historic passages, and the things that people did that were displeasing to God are being done today at a much greater rate. Once you complete this book, you will notice a pagan influence maybe even as close as your refrigerator. Great Read!

Would not recommend for beginners

This book looks like it never went through editing. If it did, the editor doesn't know any code and didn't pay much attention to the other parts either. The code has multiple run together so that will confuse the new programmer. It has good information and is intuitive but, the words running together is confusing.

Very Short and over priced, shop elsewhere

This book is extremely small and only 100 pages. I strongly urge you to just watch online videos instead like microsoft virtual academy where you can go through a ton of C# tutorials. This book will show you have to use basic math, use the switch, use the for loop, pretty generic stuff really. If you already know a programming language of some sort and you are wanting to get into C# I would not really recommend this book at all. It touches briefly on inheritance and polymorphism which are often referred to as OOp or OOa&d concepts, but the short paragraph definitions I found to be extremely lacking in regards to other books I have read. The short appendix at the end of OOP DeMystified that I picked up used for 8 bucks did a far better job more effectively with less technical jargon. If this book was 8.99 then maybe I could recommend it but at it's current price of like 17 bucks, I really felt it was a rip off. In fact, I would even say that the author really stretched the content, images, diagrams, and font sizes to try and fill up the meager 100 pages as well.

Pathetic excuse for a book

I have not come across a worse book than this for a long time. It is a few tidbits of information pieced together and posing as a "book".

The text contained is generic and not specifically written for C#. I feel the author could had included snippets of codes in any other language and resale the exact same book for any language available out there.

The print and binding of the book are subpar, with the printing not even aligned on the top of the pages. The typeface used is an extra large font, and when you include code samples in those extra large fonts, the pages fill up quickly. The book attempted to introduce a lot of concepts within 100 pages - but what is the point of adding in a separate chapter in Multithreading, when the entire chapter is 5 pages long?!

A Great Player

I'm a fan of Ricky Ponting's cricketing ability..not so much his writing. Some interesting history and insights. Perhaps not enough of the insights though..and his ghost writer could have done a bit better.
At the Close of Play is OK, but not as interesting or as well written as some other bios. For cricket fans I'd recommend Michael Hussey's "Underneath the Southern Cross" and if you want a non sporting bio, then "Mao's Last Dancer" comes to mind as a fantastic read.

AN EXCELLENT PRIMER FOR ALL LAW STUDENTS EMBARKING ON THEIR LEGAL STUDIES

An appreciation by Phillip Taylor MBE and Elizabeth Taylor of Richmond Green Chambers

David Barker has updated his excellent text book which explains the subject of law in easily understandable terms for students and non-students alike. As with all the Routledge text books, this particular title is probably the best on the market as an introduction to the way in which the “Law” operates in England and Wales.

One of the main reasons why we consider the Routledge list of legal textbooks to be of outstanding value both in terms of cost and in content are the ways in which their commissioned authors (all legal experts) explain substantive legal issues in such a readable fashion.

For both tutors and students, a decision on which textbook or revision book to use is always difficult but it is clear to us from the feedback we have received from students that the Routledge texts lead the legal field. Many of their titles also have excellent links to websites sometimes marked as ‘companion websites’ which also add much assistance to the hard-pressed learner and is a great additional tool for all.

We would also say that the formats used by Routledge for their books are very much of a mainstream formula for legal texts which eases the student into methods of legal reasoning for those just beginning their legal studies and for all undergraduates: they certainly helped us with our preparation so do ensure you look very carefully at all the titles they have on offer!

David Barker has been most successful in re-writing major parts of the original text for the 13th edition to reflect new and substantial legislative changes made by the two government administrations over the last seven years.
