Ana era una nina judia de trece a�os, hija de comerciantes alemanes, que, cuando las primeras persecuciones nazis, creyeron hallar en Holanda la salvacion definitiva. Cuando, en julio de 1942, los Frank tuvieron que elegir entre dos decisiones: someterse al allanamiento de la Gestapo o esconderse costase lo que costase, de los dos terminos de la alternativa prefirieron el segundo.

Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank's remarkable diary has since become a world classic—a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret Annex" of an old office building. Cut off from the outside world, they faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and the ever-present threat of discovery and death. In her diary Anne Frank recorded vivid impressions of her experiences during this period. By turns thoughtful, moving, and amusing, her account offers a fascinating commentary on human courage and frailty and a compelling self-portrait of a sensitive and spirited young woman whose promise was tragically cut short.

Atrapante de principio a fin. Lleno de ense�anzas y reflexiones tan actuales hoy como en el momento en que fueron escritas. Vale la pena dejarse llevar por el relato de esa adolescente, que no tiene nada que envidiarle a ning�n escritor profesional. Analiza con total naturalidad y frescura la complejidad de las relaciones dentro y fuera de su n�cleo familiar, al mismo tiempo que describe los cambios propios de la adolescencia, aunque matizados por la situaci�n que le toca vivir. Todo esto lo hace con una capacidad de introspecci�n y una autocr�tica admirables, lo que deja ver el verdadero genio detr�s de esa redacci�n. Simplemente imperdible.

This book is a popular, spare, and speculative account of the pre-eminent British World War II underwater warfare expert, who finished during the visit of the Soviet cruiser Ordzhonikidze to British during the coronation of Elizabeth II, including that he died in an attempt to recce the ship. Overall, I have found this book to be highly readable and although the material is dated it is still historically significant in the study of modern special warfare and espionage. I believe that this title will appeal to the professional and armchair military historian and serving military personnel.

Worth the read.

Really good book. Written out of the UK, so I'm not familiar with a number of the example stories (which I think the assumption is that the reader would be). That said, it's a great overview of why decisions and situations very often go awry and what we can do about it.

Chapter I: covers Elliptic Curve Based Protocols in the IEEE 1363 standard, ECDSA (EC Digital Signature Algorithm), ECDH (EC Diffie-Hellman) /ECMQV (EC MQV protocol of Law, Menezes, QU, Solinas and Vanstone) and ECIES (EC Integrated Encryption Scheme).

Chapter II: on the provable security of ECDSA.

Highly recommended for advanced graduate students, applied mathematicians and computer scientists in the field of public key cryptography. The mathematics is more advanced than in their first book on Elliptic Curve Cryptography.

Good compact book on elliptic curves in cryptography

This book gives a good summary of the current algorithms and methodologies employed in elliptic curve cryptography. The book is short (less than 200 pages), so most of the mathematical proofs of the main results are omitted. The authors instead concentrate on the mathematics needed to implement elliptic curve cryptography. The book is written for the reader with some experience in cryptography and one who has some background in the theory of elliptic curves. A reader coming to the field for the first time might find the reading difficult. The authors do give a brief summary in Chapter 1 on the idea of doing cryptography based on group theory. They then move on to discuss finite field arithmetic in Chapter 2. The reader is expected to know some of the basic notions of multiprecision arithmetic for integers. The authors choose to work with 2^16. Psuedocode is given for doing modular arithmetic with Montgomery arithmetic given special attention. The last section of the chapter gives a good summary of arithmetic in fields of characteristic 2. Chapter 3 discusses very compactly arithmetic in elliptic curves. This is where the reader should already have the background in the theory of elliptic curves, since the reading is very fast and formal. The authors do a good job of summarizing how modular polynomials come into play in elliptic curve cryptography and give some explicit examples of these polynomials. The most important chapter of the book is Chapter 4, where the authors give a discussion of how to implement elliptic curves efficiently in cryptosystems. This chapter is nicely written and pseudocode appears many times with lots of nice examples. This chapter serves as background for the next one on the discrete logarithm problem using elliptic curves over finite fields. The MOV attack, the anomalous attack, and the baby step/giant step methods are discussed very nicely. Random methods, such as the tame and wild kangaroo are discussed at the end of the chapter.
The next three chapters concentrate on how to actually generate elliptic curves for cryptosystems, with particular attention payed to the Schoof Algorithm. The chapter on Schoof's algorithm is more detailed than the rest of the chapters and this makes for better reading. The authors do discuss how to generate curves using complex multiplication although the discussion is somewhat hurried. The next chapter discusses how elliptic curves have been applied to other areas in cryptography, such as factoring, etc. A good discussion of the ECPP algorithm on proving primality ends the chapter. The authors end the chapter with a discussion of hyperelliptic cryptography. Anyone familiar with the theory of elliptic curves and how they are applied to cryptography will naturually ask if hyperelliptic curves have any advantages over the elliptic case. The authors never really address this explicity but do give examples on just what is involved in implementing hyperelliptic curves in cryptography. Overall a fine addition to the literature on elliptic curves in cryptography. One would hope that the authors would write a follow-up book on hyperelliptic curves and maybe on general algebraic curves and their possible use in this area.

Whinston's discussion seeks to unsettle this view, suggesting that some fundamental issues in this area are, in fact, not well understood. In his discussion of horizontal mergers, Whinston describes the substantial advances in recent theoretical and empirical work and suggests fruitful directions for further research. The complex area of exclusionary vertical contracts is perhaps the most controversial in antitrust. The influential "Chicago School" cast doubt on arguments that vertical contracts could be profitably used to exclude rivals. Recent theoretical work, to which Whinston has made important contributions, instead shows that such contracts can be profitable tools for exclusion. Whinston's discussion sheds light on the controversy in this area and the nature of those recent theoretical contributions.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK

If you are an aspiring rapper, DO NOT buy this book. Songs have a structure to them and you need to learn that structure, especially when you're just starting. I got this book to see if it had any fresh tips and it may have a good tip here or there but it has some bad advice that could set a new rapper back. I tried to find out about the author Michael Min to see if he has an album out or any credentials that makes him an authority on rapping and I found nothing. He has written a bunch of articles, admittedly I haven't read all of his articles, but the articles I have read are, in my opinion, bad advice if you want to be a rapper. And if you're wondering why you should listen to my opinion, I have been rapping for 10 years, I just released my 6th CD, and you can find my stuff at youtube.com/skitzcny. If you are looking for a book on rapping, I suggest How To Rap by Paul Edwards because it gets input from real professional rappers, but the best way to learn is to watch tutorial videos and listen to more rap because it is hard to learn advanced techniques, especially when it comes to flow and delivery, from a book.
