A study in contradictions and misguidance

As a person well acquainted with Islam and the 'Nation of Islam' claims to Islam, the only reason I elevated this book to a single star is because its a good glimpse into Elijah Muhammad's pseudo-messianic mindset. More on that later. 'Our Saviour Has Arrived' is one of two books simultaneously released in Feb. 1974 a year prior to Elijah's death. Both it and 'The Flag of Islam' represent Elijah's final works. As for those who have gushed over its content, quite frankly they not only lack familiarity with Islam, but have sipped Elijah's koolade.

According to official NOI doctrine, the Creator of the heavens and Earth is a physical human being who was jailed on the streets of Detroit and Chicago in 1930. By this, Elijah rejects the well-known Islamic concept of a transcendent Creator who is above and beyond His creation. Moroever, Elijah makes the absurd claim on p. 67, that "99% of the old world Muslims think that Allah is only a "Spirit" and is not a Man."

Elijah's claim is pure nonsense. Indeed, this claim displays his Christian background as well as his total ignorance of basic Islamic belief, as Muslims DO NOT believe Allah to be a `spirit.' Nowhere in the Qur'an does Allah refer to Himself as a spirit nor does the Prophet (ﷺ) state anything which would remotely suggest this anywhere in his authentic narrations. Allah says: "There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing." [Ash-Shurah, 42:11] In fact, Allah refers to the spirit as a part of His creation: "They ask you (O Muhammad) about the spirit, Say the spirit (exists) by my Lord's command." [Al-Isra', 17:85]

Furthermore, on p. 89 Elijah claims that Heaven is racially segregated, and on p. 110-111 he proclaims belief in a new heaven, a new Islam and a pantheon of gods: "He, Master Fard Muhammad, God in Person, will create a new heaven and a new earth, a new Islam and a new government and people.... This is the way of the Gods. One God is not allowed to pattern after another God when it comes to universal change."

Islam does not proclaim such outlandish concepts and 'Our Saviour Has Arrived' is laden with them. I could go on, yet in summary, if one expects guidance from "Our Saviour Has Arrived' you won't find it. However, if you have an interest in the doctrines of the largest Western pseudo-Islamic cult, and wish to contrast it with real Islam, then it may serve a purpose.

"Our Saviour Has Arrived". Like a coin has two sides, this book delivers two great messages.

This is first a message to a people who have suffered great wrong doing. A people downtrodden and oppressed for centuries, robbed of the knowledge of themselves their religion god and others,robbed of their language and history, enslaved and caused to serve those who enslaved them for that time without compensation. Elijah Muhammad delivers to those people a message that they are no longer rejected that a Saviour has arrived to deliver them from their oppressors, to return to them that which was stolen and return them to a position of greatness which they once rightfully commanded and enjoyed on this planet.
The other side of the coin is a message to slavemasters and their children, a message causing great sadness and arousing great anger. Anger that those people they held prey whom they guarded so carefully to ensure that it not receive the light of freedom justice and equality, have indeed received just such light and are now reclaiming their own true God and people. We see and hear the truth of Elijah Muhammad' s words expressed in the action of the Three branches on the government of this country. We also see Gods wrath expressed in the constant calamities, disasters headed to America, punishesment for her greatest sins against God's people.
I sincerely recommend this book to those on both sides of the coin.

This is by far one of the greatest book I have ever read. It is written in such a manner that you would have to be completely blind, deaf, dumb, and mentally dead not to comprehend and understand the writings of this book.

Excellent story. This book is a great summer read

Excellent story. This book is a great summer read, or really a great anytime read. I recommend it for both young and old. It brought me back to my younger days on the Jersey Shore. The story line captured my attention at the start and continued to hold my attention throughout the entire book. Love, humor, growing relationships and developing friendships continued to suck me into this wonderful summer love story. The story line is a great representation of what it feels like to find love for the first time, something everyone can relate to. I highly recommend this book. I anxiously await book two, Casey Whitman: High Flyer.

A tremendous blessing

Pam Blackwell has achieved an enormous goal with Christ Centered Meditation---she has taken a spiritual subject (perceived by many to be esoteric) and made its benefits available to anyone who is willing to learn and practice.

The author's encouraging spirit is evident as one reads. Though not a traditional approach, it is effective and Blackwell provides useful background information to make the transition from Eastern terminology to a Christian vocabulary.

I learned a lot, and felt truly empowered. I have gained a broader view of meditation and am much more confident now that I can access its rewards.

Highly recommended!

Pam Blackwell has achieved an enormous goal with Christ Centered Meditation---she has taken a spiritual subject (perceived by many to be esoteric) and made its benefits available to anyone who is willing to learn and practice.

The author's encouraging spirit is evident as one reads. Though not a traditional approach, it is effective and Blackwell provides useful background information to make the transition from Eastern terminology to a Christian vocabulary.

I learned a lot, and felt truly empowered. I have gained a broader view of meditation and am much more confident now that I can access its rewards.

About the Author

Kenneth Chelst is a professor of operations research and director of engineering management programs in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Wayne State University. An Edelman Award finalist, he is also co-principal investigator of the NSF-funded Project MINDSET and a senior consultant for the International City and County Management Association. He earned a Ph.D. in operations research from MIT. His research interests include engineering management, emergency service management, global engineering, and the use of operations research to enhance K-12 mathematics education.

Yavuz Burak Canbolat is a senior manager in the Decision Support Group at Abbott Laboratories. He was previously an associate manager in decision analysis for Merck & Co., Inc., and an instructor in the Industrial Engineering Department at Qafqaz University. He earned a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from Wayne State University. His research interests include decision analysis and operations research techniques in R&D portfolio evaluation and management, strategic planning, financial and economic analysis, global operations and logistics, risk analysis, and capacity planning.

Excellent Content but digital version is not worth it.

I want to be impartial with this review.

Regarding the content, this book is really helpful to understand the key concepts in decision-making analysis. The examples are basic, simple but reach the point to illustrate scenarios and real situations. It is well-organized, and if you want to learn by yourself, this is an excellent starting point tool.
However, I bought the ebook version because I was moving out and just thinking about how much weight I have to carry and ship with my books, it drives me crazy. So, I decided to buy the digital version. Unfortunately, this version does not include the book's index, and If you are interested in download de decisionTools Suite package explained in Appendix A, you will not be able to download and activate the software, because you need some information located in the BOOK'S INDEX.
I think that this type of "missing" should be included in the specs of the digital version. I am really disappointed and felt deceived.

Essential Resource for Engineers & Managers

This is an outstanding book on decision and risk. In today's environment, engineers and managers need to comprehensively understand the impact of their decisions. Today's decisions are far more complex than simply "yes or no". There are multiple considerations attached to any decision and the fact that not all risk is weighted equally is critical, especially in the case of multiple objectives.

The real-life examples included in the text make the concepts easy to understand. The chapter on ethical decisions reminds managers that reputation matters and the common good cannot be overlooked.

The only thing better than this book are Dr. Chelst's classes at Wayne State University. The text reflects his use of humor to illustrate complex topics. In short, this book is an essential resource for all engineers and managers.

Why are the editing controls so poor.

I am a decision practioner and it is really rare to get a good concise book on decision theory.

Pros:

The book is well laid out and topics are explained clearly and concisely. Good for both graduate level courses and real life practical implementations.

Cons:

Editing - Editing - Editing... The work examples need to be correct. A book costing $125 should have outstanding editing and quality review processes.

Example: Page 129
Ut(11.1) = (0 - 11.1) / (0 - 12) = 0.075 */ the equation was not derived correctly it should have read

Ut(11.1) = (11.1 - 12) / (0 - 12) = 0.075 */

Overall:
Too many errors in the examples spoil this book....
If you don't take the examples at face value and work through the problems yourself then the book is GREAT..
Not worth the price due to the lack of proof reading.
